2500 to 800 BCE: Late Archaic Period

The Late Archaic groups continue to maintain contact and trade relationships with the Upper and Lower Great Lakes areas. These groups are distinguished from their Middle Archaic ancestors mainly by changes in the shape of projectiles points.

Late Archaic finds are widely distributed throughout the region, including Allumette and Morrison Islands in the Ottawa River near Pembroke, the Bonnechere River near Eganville and Mud Lake, and in the Muskrat River basin near Cobden, Ontario.
